Johnsons Jewellers are delighted to announce the arrival of Forevermark diamonds to their collection of diamond engagement rings. Here at Johnsons Jewellers we already carry a wide selection of diamond rings, but we are always on the lookout for something new and exciting.
Choosing an engagement ring can be an exciting time , but also a confusing time if you are unsure on what to look for. It is important to feel confident in making a once in a lifetime purchase and what could hold more confidence than the name De Beers. With a history of mining diamonds since the 1800’s, De Beers has great history in knowing what to look for in a diamond.
The Forevermark journey begins under the De Beers umbrella in Canada, whether that be from a deep mine underground or from an Arctic lake .The responsibly sourced diamonds come from selected mines which are chosen for their stringent business and social ethics, and in such places where Forevermark and De Beers can give something back to the community or the environment to reduce any impact diamond mining may have on the area.
The diamonds are put through a stringent sorting process where in which host rock is analysed for its colour, size and shape any good characteristics it may contain. Analysing these diamonds in this raw state takes great skill and a great eye for detail. The diamond assessors have years of training to recognise what to look for in the stones in this raw state. Selected by hand, the Forevermark diamonds account for less than 1% of the world’s diamonds.
Once they are assessed the stones are sent to be cut into the most suitable shape; that may be a round brilliant stone, oval cut or their unique square cut. Once cut the diamonds are then assessed for their colour and clarity. Using state of the art technology and years of experience the Forevermark diamonds are put through a 17 step process to get to the final result. All Forevermark diamonds are to be completely natural and must have an almost perfectly polished table.
This is very important as this is where the next stage of the Forevermark diamond is taken, to the inscription. The inscription is 1/20th of a micron deep, this is 1/5000th of the depth of a human hair. The inscription on the table is the unique number given to the diamond assuring that it is a beautiful Forevermark diamond.
